NEWSFLASH
VICDEAF HAS GIVEN ASLIA VIC THE USE OF AN OFFICE!! WE NOW HAVE OUR VERY OWN SPACE WITH OUR NAME ON THE DOOR!!

· VITS recently put out a booklet proposing a model for self-regulation for interpreters and translators. This is basically a call for setting up an independent registration body which VITS calls 'VITAL" (Victorian Interpreters And Translators Association Limited).Interested? Read more in the Minutes.

· VTPU (Victorian Transcultural Psychiatric Unit) recently completed a project surveying interpreters about their needs for training in mental health interpreting. A report has been prepared which was emailed recently to members. An ASLIA Vic rep will attend the next meeting. A booklet of guidelines for working with interpreters is being prepared. If you want input please contact Meredith or Sandi.
